    Sculpture Cleanup Day--Volunteers Needed!

Our fabulous Patrick Dougherty sculpture is in need of a little "spring cleaning."  On Saturday, April 20th (in concert with Five Rivers MetroParks' "Adopt-a-Park Day), volunteers will gather at Wegerzyn to repair and replace woven branches of the sculpture.  The hours are 9 AM to noon.  Lunch will be provided at RiverScape MetroPark afterward.  For information on the sculpture cleanup, contact Bob Butts at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Advanced registration is appreciated!

Our Patrick Dougherty sculpture, "A Wiggle in Its Walk," is a nearly 200-foot-long tunnel of woven saplings that curls around Wegerzyn's North Plaza. Its doors and windows invite visitors to peer into and out of the whimsical 19-foot-high structure. It was awarded the FIRST PLACE for cultural arts programs by the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA). Welcome to the Wegerzyn Gardens Foundation

The Wegerzyn Gardens Foundation is dedicated to supporting the educational and horticultural programs and continued development of Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark.  We do this primarily by conducting fundraising activities and offering a membership program, in addition to other sources of income.

Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark began in 1973 as the Benjamin Wegerzyn Horticultural Center and in 1995 became part of Five Rivers MetroParks. Today it is one of our region’s finest public gardens!  It is free and open to the public virtually year-round.  More information about Wegerzyn and its programs can be found at www.metroparks.org/wegerzyn.

What we do

  • Our foundation gives additional funding to Five Rivers MetroParks to enable enhancements to Wegerzyn’s facilities.  Recent examples include decorative commemorative benches on the Garden Green and the construction of the award-winning Children’s Discovery Garden.
  • We provide funding and support for public programs at Wegerzyn, such as the Patrick Dougherty exhibit and its related events.
  • We are growing an endowment fund to protect and enhance Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark for generations to come.
  • Our events and programs attract new visitors to enjoy the beauty and healthful benefits of Wegerzyn, and we’re working hard to promote its greater awareness throughout the tri-state region.
