    MayFair Plant Sale

Our MayFair Plant Sale will take place in the Wegerzyn Center (1301 E. Siebenthaler Avenue) on Saturday, May 2 from 9 AM to 3 PM, and Sunday, May 3 from 11 AM to 3 PM.

As a special benefit to members of the Wegerzyn Gardens Foundation, the highly lauded MEMBERS-ONLY PREVIEW will take place on Friday, May 1 from 5 to 7 PM.  Members will have first choice of the wide selection of items at the sale. Be sure to bring the $5-off coupon which all members will receive in the mail--and bring your membership card, too.

Whether you're a member or not, come and choose from thousands of annuals, perennials and shrubs!  You'll feel good about spending money with us because all proceeds benefit Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark.  We take pride in offering a wide selection of the newest additions to the horticultural world, as well as all your tried-and-true favorites.

NEW THIS YEAR: Bring your own container or buy one from us, and we'll help you choose the ideal selection of plants for your specific taste and growing conditions...and then we'll help you plant them!  We'll even provide the potting soil for a modest fee.  This is a great idea for Mother's Day gifts!!!

And speaking of Mother's Day, we will once again have a gift shop concession at the plant sale, where you can pick up a gift for mom, grandma or any other special woman in your life.

    First Bloom Program

In partnership with the Downtown Dayton Partnership and Five Rivers MetroParks, we will again be planting the 150+ planters that beautify the sidewalks throughout our city.  Since 2004, the First Bloom program has been bringing color and beauty to downtown Dayton each spring. Downtown business and property owners purchase planters filled with colorful flowers. The planters are assembled by our board members, council members, other volunteers, and the talented MetroParks staff.  Call Ed Lehman at 937-657-7285 for information about volunteering.

Welcome to the Wegerzyn Gardens Foundation

The Wegerzyn Gardens Foundation is dedicated to supporting the educational and horticultural programs and continued development of Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark.  We do this primarily by conducting fundraising activities and offering a membership program, in addition to other sources of income.

Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark began in 1973 as the Benjamin Wegerzyn Horticultural Center and in 1995 became part of Five Rivers MetroParks. Today it is one of our region’s finest public gardens!  It is free and open to the public virtually year-round.  More information about Wegerzyn and its programs can be found at www.metroparks.org/wegerzyn.

What we do

  • Our foundation gives additional funding to Five Rivers MetroParks to enable enhancements to Wegerzyn’s facilities.  Recent examples include decorative commemorative benches on the Garden Green and the construction of the award-winning Children’s Discovery Garden.
  • We provide funding and support for public programs at Wegerzyn, such as the Patrick Dougherty exhibit and its related events.
  • We are growing an endowment fund to protect and enhance Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark for generations to come.
  • Our events and programs attract new visitors to enjoy the beauty and healthful benefits of Wegerzyn, and we’re working hard to promote its greater awareness throughout the tri-state region.
